Commerce Cub, Management Club and Science Club were inaugurated in the beginning of the academic year with Staff coordinators and student office bearers.
Commerce club is a forum designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the national and international environment. The club organizes programmes like extension lectures, seminars and industrial interactive sessions to suit the latest industrial demands. The second and third year students of the Commerce department went to Industrial visit at Tata Coffee Pvt. Ltd., Vaigaidam on Sept 25th 2009.

Our III BBA student Mr N Sunder took part in the Quiz program at MKU which was sponsored by Youth Red Cross. II BBA students took part in the exclusive management meet “Business Kshethra” at RL Institute of Management & Technology, Madurai.
The motto of the Science Club is ‘to explore everything’. Various programs like paper presentation, speech, mime, Software marketing and other cultural programs and competitions were conducted during the meetings.
A novel idea of “Honesty Shop” was implemented by the Science club, where the faculty members and students of the science club can acquire stationery items by putting money in a box. The best part of it is that there is actually no shop keeper there, other than one’s own conscience. The Staff coordinator reports that it is working very well.
Final year students participated in a special lecture on “Cell Phone Technology & Service” conducted in the college on August 3rd, 2009 by Waves technology, Madurai.
Mr.R.Yousuf Raja and Mr.P.Karuppaiya of II year Biotechnology participated in the State level conference on Global warming held at H.K.R.H College, Uthamapalayam, on Dece 17th 2009 and presented posters.
2010-2011

On 28.7.2010 the first year members were welcomed by the Commerce club. Our Principal Rev.Fr.Issac CMI gave Presidential Address. Motto of the club was briefed S. Hariharan, Chairman of the club. Our members entertained the audience by variety cultural Programmes. First year students were impressed by the senior students, by their talents. III B.Com students attended the State Level Seminar on “Modern Financial Services” organized by Dept. of Commerce in J.A College, Periyakulam, on 5.2.2011. “Commerce Carnival 2011” conducted on 26.02.2011.
Management club
Management is a universally accepted process. It needs practical experience than theories. To ensure ‘The quality of future mangers’, the department of management studies organized the ‘Management Club’ and it gave varieties of training to students to become eminent managers in the present competitive world. It organized a program to welcome the new members from first year to the club.
The Management club arranged an ‘Educational tour ‘ on 29th and 30th January this year during which students visited ‘RAMCO’ cement Company and ‘Vandalore’ Biological Park besides traditional places like Mahabalipuram, Tanjore etc.,
Science Club
Fr. Issac P.J CMI, the Principal of the College, was elected as Patron, Mr. C. Atheeswaran HOD, Dept of Computer Science as Mentor and Mr. Mohamed Nizam, Lecturer, Dept of Biotechnology as coordinator of the Club. Innovative techniques and methods in various science related fields were presented by students its inaugural event. Mr. Mohammed Dhaha of III comp. Science student was selected during the year as student reporter in “Puthiya Thaimurai”, a Tamil magazine. Mr.T. Muthuraj, III year IT student was also selected as Junior Reporter of “Vikatan” group of publication for Theni district.
Tamil Literary Club
Our organization primarily focuses on English based quality education. However we should not forget the importance of Tamil. Hence a Tamil Literary Club was started with 20 members from students named as ‘SIGARAM TEAM’ Mr. M. Harikrishnan from the department of Tamil, Coordinated the Bharathiyar’s Day o September 08, 2010, under its auspicious..
The chief guest of the day was Mr.Ponnusamy, DEAN, Tamilnadu Horticultural University, and Periyakulam. The programme mainly focused on the importance of the need for Tamil litracy.
Competitions in Essay and poetry writing, elocution and singing etc., were held.
The participants were given certificates and prizes. The cultural activity on this day was full of entertainment and every one appreciated it.
English Literary Club
English Literary Association (ELA) was founded by the department of English in the beginning of this academic year. The aim of ELA was to make students intelligent and to be efficient in their language skills. English department staff Mr. D.J.Naganathadurai HOD, Prof. Soby Sebastian, Mr.E.Sureshkumar, Mrs.P.Amudha and Mr.Gurupandian, ELA Secretary put in their best of efforts for the development & progress of ELA members.
ELA organized several competitions, and events for the benefit of its members during the current academic year. By way of illustration, some of these were:
The opening event by ELA was a “News Reading Competition” to improve reading and pronunciation skills of students. The thrill of the event was such that there were over a dozen participants in this first over event.
ELA conducted a “Spelling Bee Competition” as its second event which enabled the students to have interest in learning new vocabulary and correct spellings and pronunciation of new words.
The Third was a “Literary Quiz” based on English Literature. Through this event all our student members acquired wide knowledge in English history and salient features of English language.
The fourth Programme was an Elocution Competition. This enthused students to develop a strong desire to be powerful speakers.
The final of ELA activity “One Act play” was with production of a “THE INTRUDERS” presented by its members. Besides the audience, we got a word of appreciation from our Fr.Issac P.J CMI, Principal and the members of our distinguished faculty.
Hotel Management & Catering Science
B.Sc., Hotel Management & Catering Science Programme started its operations from the academic Year 2010 – ‘11. The department has well equipped Training Kitchen and Restaurant facilities for students to get International class exposure.
Hotel Management celebrated International Chefs day on the theme of “Go Green Chefs” on Oct, 20, 2010. In this event prepared 20 Varieties of dishes with green ingredients and the emphasis was on values of organic food.
“World Bread Day” was celebrated and organized by the dept at Hotel Fortune Pandiyan, ITC Group, Madurai, as part of its Extension activity. In this Bread Mela, students were prepared 22 varieties of dishes and introduced a new concept in cooking with Breads.
Hotel Management & Catering Science students received one month Industrial exposure Training at Hotel Chitra Residency, Tuticorin. During the training period students gained hands –on training on real functions of the hotel industry.
Christmas day was celebrated by the department on the theme of “Christmas Toast 2010”. Students were prepared Home Made wine, varieties of X-Mas Cakes and served it to all the faculty members. Rev.Fr.Vimy Charlie was the chief Guest of the day.
Chef. Raj Mohan, Lecturer in Hotel Management department, gave a lecture & Cooking demonstration to St.Thomas University students, Minnesota, USA on Ancient South Indian Cooking, on the same day.
The department of Hotel Management & Catering Science organized an Intra-departmental cooking competition among students on 25.02.10. Student teams showcased their cooking flair by preparing varieties of Indian delights. The winners were honoured by the Rev.Fr.Issac P.J. CMI, Principal.
On 15.11.2010, Hotel Management dept also organized Grape Crushing Day and brewed the wine ahead of Christmas Eve celebration. This exercise helped the students to know the wine production as part of their curriculum.

II B.Com student Jegadeeswari A presented a paper on the National Level Seminar titled “Indian retail sector opportunities & Challenges” at Madurai Sivakasi Nadar Pioneer Meenakshi Women’s College on 11th February 2012. I BCom student S Praveena also attended the seminar.
Mr.R. Saravanan, KVB Manager delivered a special guest lecture your students titled “Opportunities in Banking sector” on 15th February 2012.

Management club
To ensure ‘The quality of future mangers’, the department of management studies organized the ‘Management Club’ and it held varieties of training programmes for students to become eminent future managers.
11 of our BBA students participated in the event ‘Yuppie Panel 2012’, an intercollegiate programme organized by Nadar Saraswathi College, Vadaputhupatti, Theni on 17.02.2012.
The Club also organized an industrial visit to “Parle – G” biscuit factory, Madurai. II & III year students participated in this industrial visit.
Science Club
Science Club was a new platform for students to showcase their scientific and technological views and ideas. On August 29, 2011, Science Club organized a paper and poster presentation. Mr.V.Rajendra Prasad, Vice Principal, Sri VPR College of Education, Theni, was the chief guest. He gave a talk on ‘Application of Science & Technology for social welfare”.
Science club also organized “Science in Yoga” on 10.11.2012. On the same day, a Rangoli competition was held on the theme of “Natural calamities” and winners were awarded prizes. Eminent yoga experts Mr.Thirunavakarasu, Prof in Yoga, Dindigul and Mr.L.R. Gopalan, Prof in Yoga, Periyakulam were special invitees of the day.
Besides these Science club organized “Nala Kesary” a cooking competition in association with Hotel management & Catering Science department for our students.
Mr.M. Rajachithambaram, General Manager, Hotel western Gatz, Theni was the chief guest. The winners of the cooking competition were given prizes.
Physics Club
Titled “Tachyons” (Entities that move faster than the speed of Light), the main motto of the club is “Plain Living and High thinking “. The club was inaugurated by our principal on 28-07-2012 in which a warm welcome was offered to the first year students.
Seven students from our department participated in a National Seminar on “Industrial Based PLC & SCADA” on 6th January organized by department of Electronics and Instrumentation, Bharathiar University. A programme 5 of our department students also participated in “Phyxplosion ‘12”, organized by PG & Research department of Physics, Lady Doak College, Madurai on January 27.
Biotechnology club
The biotechnology club of the College conducted a job oriented workshop entitled as “Workshop on Bioinformatics” on 18.02.2012. Dr. Parthasarathy lyengear Ph.D. was the key resource person.
Maths club
Named “Skyline Math”. The main motto of this club is “promoting mathematical importance and nurturing excellence in mathematics”.
This club conducted an intercollegiate meet by name “Skyline Math” on September 16th, 2011, in which eleven colleges took part and the overall trophy was won Sri Chunganari Women College, Cumbum.
Computer Academy
Fr. Issac P.J CMI, the Principal of the College, was nominated as Patron, Mr. C. Atheeswaran, HOD, as Mentor and Mr. M.Ganesh Kumar, Lecturer, as coordinator of the academy. The academy launched a new logo and started SMS services to its members. The academy also created a group called ‘FuzzyByte’ to unearth the skills in the students.
Tamil Literary Club
Under the Tamil Literary Club on September 13th 2011 Sigaram Group conducted Tamil Festival Tamil Ilakkiaya Vizha. It mainly focused on Patriot Bharathiyar and his Contribution to the growth of the society. Rev.Fr.Issac CMI, Principal, delivered the Inaugural Address and Mr.P.Subramanian, Teacher, Govt.Hr.Sec.School, G.Kallupatty, gave the Key note Address. Mr. Kuppusamy from “Uratah Sindhanai Ezuthalar Sangam” delivered a talk on the importance of cultural development in the modern society.
Tamil department has been keenly motivating, students and teachers to participate in various inter-collegiate meets and competitions. Many bagged prizes and certificates on September 5th in “Uratah Sindhanai Ezuthalar Sangam”, a programme organized to honor the teachers in and around theni district. Six teachers were selected from the district and were honored on the occasion.
On 23rd December 2011 we celebrated Bharathiyar’s Birth Day. The Inaugural Address given by Rev.Fr.Issac CMI, Pricipal. The Guests of the day were Mr. Chella Muthu and Mr. Bharathan, Mr.Kuppuchamy, Mr.Kandhachamy, Mr. Vaigai Pandi, Mr. Kattu Raja, Mr.Tamil Mani Bharathi.

Hotel Management & Catering Science
On 09.09.2011 Chef. Rajmohan, Head Dept of HMCS and and Joseph Kuruvilla & Joju of IInd HMCS participated in the national Conference ‘Trending Hospitality’ organized by Christ University, Bangalore.
Chef .Rajmohan, started in air cooking receipes and tips in popular radio channel Radio Mirchi FM, Madurai and Chennai. Till date the show has covered more than 50 cooking programmes.
On 12.10.2011, HMCS organized a Mega Chinese food festival, ‘The wok’. Mr.Balasubramanian, Executive Chef, Hotel Fortune Pandian, Madurai, Mr.S.Ramesshbabu, General Manager and Mr.Ashiq, Operation Manager of respectively Hotel ABM, Grande, Theni were the special invitees. Students prepared 18 varieties of dishes on the day. More than 300 people turned for the Food Festival.
On 31.01.2012, Dept of HMCS organized “DHADKAN” an Indian theme Jumbo lunch buffet. Mr.Rajachithabaram, General Manager, Hotel Western Gatz, Theni was the chief guest.
On 17.02.2012, was organized a fire fighting demonstration for the Hotel Management students Mr. Arputham fire station officer, Periyakulam, demonstrated.
Hotel Management students were trained in this various reputed star hotels such as ITC group of hotels and Taj group of hotels.
Dept of HMCS was appreciated and felicitated by World association of chefs’ societies (WACS) and the Indian federation of culinary Associations (IFCA) for their great contributions to the International Chefs day celebration. The felicitation award is to be given at the National Chefs Congress at Taj Vivanta, Bangalore on March 22, 2012.
Hotel Management students had industrial their visit to Hotel ABM Grande, & Hotel Western Gatz, Theni and attended a special lecture on “Current Trends and growth of Hospitality Industry” held by hotel professionals.

Visual Media Club
To motivate the interested students in media line and to develop their creativity we started Visual Media Club in our College newly this year. The inaugural function was conducted on July 25th 2012 . The chief guest was Mr.Baskar Sakthi, Screen Play Writer and Kavikaruppaiah, Cinimeapoet.
September 13th Mr.Indra Soundarrajan, Screen Play Writer delivered the message about serial Screen Play Writing to the VMC students.

The Management Club for the year 2012-2013 started with a Club Inauguration on July 20th 2012. On the same date we organised a WELCOME PARTY for our fresher 2012-2015 batch. After that we gathered for many occasions.
The meetings for the club conducted very month duly. Apart from Departments Meetings also conducted for the upliftment of the students.
The scintillating function conducted by us was the Grand INTRA-COLLEGIAL MEET, “PRABHANTHA MILLANA 13” on Feb 22nd 2013. Which was the program organised only by our final students with the motivate of giving exposure to the students.
Hotel Management & Catering Science
Centre for Indian Culinary and Higher Hospitality is introducing a “Free Hospitality Education Programme” Intensive Apprebticiship Training Programme to the under privileged candidates in collaboration with star hotel and restaurant brands.
Department of Hotel Management launched a First of its kind centre in a state, Christened “Centre for Indian Culinary and Higher Hospitality” on 19.12.2012. Chef.Suresha Kumar, Executive Chef, Heritage Madurai inaugurated the Centre and spoke
Hotel Management department organized a training session for noon meal employees of Periyakulam, Devadanapatti, Vadugapatti and Genguvarpatti union on recent revised noon meal scheme. Nearly 65 noon meal employees attended in which Chef. Rajmohan, Head of the Hotel Management department gave demonstration.
Hotel Management Catering Science department organized a National Seminar titled “South Food in Contemporary Age” on 27.02.2013. Chef. Rajmohan M.S, Head, Hotel Management department Aloof Hotel, Coimbatore and P.Gopi Kannan, Operation Manager, ABM Grade, Theni was The key Speakers. Mr.C. Jaswanth John, Managing Director, J.C Residency, Kodaikannal inaugurated the National Seminar. Around 60 participants from various Colleges present.

Visual Media Club
Visual media club is formed to give a visual format to the innovations and creativity of the students. Visual media club is proudly known as VMC and it is an advantageous platform for one who is aspiring media profession. VMC has done four short films and three albums as project during the academic year 2013-14. Visual Media Club was launched by famous script writer Bhasker Shakthi in 2012.

We organized a field work on the Sree Moongilanai Kamatchipuram Temple, Devadanapatti (09.01.2016).
We organized a special Camp at Agamalai from 4th March 2016 and carried out various developmental activities in the village.
