Mary Matha College has instituted a dedicated Publication and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell, aiming to foster, aid, and provide direction to both faculty and students in their pursuit of publication. This initiative is designed to elevate the realms of research and publication within Mary Matha College. In addition to facilitating the publication process, the cell will actively support individuals in securing various forms of intellectual property rights, including copyrights, patents, trademarks, and more. This comprehensive approach underscores the college’s commitment to advancing scholarly activities and protecting the intellectual contributions of its academic community.

Objectives

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Publication Cell of Matha College of arts & Science has the following objectives to foster innovation, protect intellectual property, and promote research dissemination. Objectives Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Publication Cell.

  • Educational Outreach: Conduct workshops, seminars, and training programs to educate students and faculty about intellectual property rights, copyrights, patents, and the publication process.
  • Support for Research and Innovation: Provide guidance and support to researchers and students in protecting their innovations and ideas through patents, copyrights.
  • Publication Assistance: Aid faculty and students in publishing their research findings in reputable journals, conferences, and other platforms by offering guidance on manuscript preparation, journal selection, and submission processes.
  • IPR Consultation Services: Offer consultancy and advisory services to the college community on intellectual property matters, including patent searches, infringement analysis, and licensing agreements.
  • Encourage Collaborations: Foster collaborations between academia and industry for research projects, encouraging joint ventures and partnerships while ensuring proper intellectual property management.
  • Establish IP Policies: Develop and implement policies within the college to manage and protect intellectual property rights, ensuring fair use and proper attribution.
  • Promote Innovation Culture: Create an environment that nurtures creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking among students and faculty by organizing innovation challenges and idea incubation programs.
  • Networking and Collaboration: Establish connections with external agencies, legal experts, industry professionals, and research organizations to stay updated on IP regulations, trends, and opportunities.
  • Monitoring and Enforcement: Monitor the compliance of intellectual property regulations within the institution, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and legal requirements.
  • Documentation: Maintain a comprehensive database or repository of intellectual property assets developed within the college, facilitating easy access and reference for future use.

About MMC Publications

Mary Matha College has launched publication services, establishing MMC Publications to publish books equipped with ISBNs. Additionally, the college has introduced a scholarly journal named “MMC Journal of Science and Humanities” dedicated to disseminating high-quality research papers. The college has taken the necessary steps to ensure the authenticity of these publications by applying for title verification, a process successfully completed and officially allotted by the RNI authorities. Furthermore, the college is actively engaged in the ongoing process of obtaining ISSN for the journal, further solidifying its commitment to maintaining rigorous standards in academic publishing.

Menuscript Submission Process

1. Admission

Potential incubates shall express their interest in the prescribed application form with the business plan. The admission of incubates shall be at the discretion of Incubation Advisory Committee based on the merit of the application.

2.Product/service innovation

The center shall facilitate the ideation, concept development, product or service development, market analysis and feasibility study to the incubates with the support of mentors.

3.Pre-market stage

The budding entrepreneurs shall be assisted with the creation of prototypes, product/service enhancement and test marketing for an effective launch of their business.

4.Implementation

Expert guidance shall be provided for funding, upscaling and commercialization.

5.Tenure of incubation

The incubates are eligible for a term of three years of incubation at MMC Incubation Center with two extensions of six months each at the discretion of the Incubation Advisory Committee.

6.Review

The expert mentors shall review the progress of the incubatees to streamline the process and ensure the success of the ventures.

7.Exit

The incubatees shall exit from the center on successful start-up or completion of tenure of incubation.
